Workshop: Cooperation between Europe and Africa – best practice, future possibilities, and the role of Science Europe

October 30, 13:00 - 17:00

Science Europe and its Member Organisations share an ambition to develop opportunities for cross-border collaboration to support excellence in science. Recognising that we should no longer categorise the world into the Global North and Global South, as we are one world facing common challenges, Science Europe is launching a new series of workshops on this theme between our members and different world regions, one at a time. The first workshop will focus on cooperation with Africa.

The GRC is key in developing our cooperation with the regions of the world, and Science Europe is supporting European organisations to that end. Also, the recently established Multilateral Engagement working group will help in our efforts to maintain and even increase our international cooperation in times of geopolitical challenges. Heads of Research Councils from fourteen African countries participated in the GRC Annual Meeting in Interlaken, indicating a promising level of increased cooperation.

The first workshop in Tallinn on 30 October, following the European GRC Regional Meeting, will focus on Africa-Europe cooperation. Selected European and African countries will share existing good practices and opportunities for future cooperation.

NB! It is a closed event, and participation is possible only with invitations.
