The Estonian Research Council (ETAG) was established by the Republic of Estonia on 1 March 2012 through the merger of the Estonian Science Foundation and the Research Cooperation Centre of the Archimedes Foundation. The founder’s rights are exercised by the Ministry of Education and Research, under whose authority ETAG operates. Cooperation between the ministry and the foundation is regulated by an administrative agreement.
The statutory function of the foundation is to fund research and development activities, analyse the impact of funded activities, and organise Estonia’s participation in Estonian, European Union and other international research programmes.
ETAG’s mission is to support the development and implementation of national research, development and innovation policy, and to contribute to the increase of the social and economic impact and synergy of research and innovation activities. To fulfil this mission, we:
