Research culture

Research culture shapes the way science is conducted, evaluated, and shared with society. It encompasses the values, principles, and practices that support the trustworthiness, openness, and sustainable development of science. ETAG’s activities in promoting research culture focus on creating a broader environment in which researchers can work responsibly, transparently, and collaboratively.

Science Europe’s framework “A Vision & Framework for Research Cultures” (2025) treats improving research culture as a systemic task. In Estonia, ETAG contributes to research culture primarily through its work on research ethics, open science, gender mainstreaming, research assessment, and research careers.
