Inspirational seminar “Estonia is looking for Research Ambassadors”

November 24, 09:30 - 16:30

At the Baer Hall of the Dorpat Conference Centre (Turu 2, Tartu)

Estonia has high-level research capacity and research infrastructure, smart people and successful cooperation projects. However, in order to increase the impact of Estonian research and contribute to economic growth, research and development activities should be supported by elaborate marketing. To raise Estonian research reputation, our researchers, especially young ones, require proper tools to introduce Estonian research. Elsewhere in the world, for achieving similar purpose, there have been initiated research ambassadors’ programmes.

The goal of this seminar is to determine if such research ambassadors’ programme would be necessary to initiate in Estonia.

This seminar would include: researchers talking about their experiences of introducing Estonian research; give overview of the Estonian brand toolbox; and a look into two similar programmes – the Estonian Convention Bureau’s ambassadors’ programme and Research in Germany’s Research Ambassadors Programme.

Are you an Estonian or international researcher, research administrator or communicator who often has the opportunity to introduce Estonia and its research scene to foreign partners, colleagues or other interested parties? Do you need good marketing materials? If yes, then you are welcome to come and join the discussion at the seminar.

We will look answers to the following questions:

  • Does Estonia need research ambassadors’ programme?
  • Who should be participating in that programme?
  • What marketing tools/materials should the Estonian research ambassadors have?

Kristin Kraav (Estonian Research Council) moderates the seminar.

Seminar will be held in English.
