The Estonian Research Council launches an adaptation grant for international recruitment of researchers

Starting from April 2024, the Estonian Research Council (ETAG) is introducing a new adaptation grant aimed at supporting Estonian research and development institutions in recruiting researchers from outside Estonia.

The new adaptation grant is targeted at involving researchers from abroad in Estonian research and development institutions. Its goal is to bring new knowledge to the Estonian research landscape, enriching local research and development activities, and raising their quality. The grant enables researchers from foreign countries and Estonian researchers who have relocated abroad to continue their research careers in Estonia, thereby contributing to their integration into the Estonian research and development system.

The grant is available to researchers who have not lived or worked in Estonia in the past 12 months and who have completed a postdoctoral program or conducted research of comparable level abroad. This condition does not extend to recipients of the Estonian Research Council’s Postdoctoral Research Grant (PUTJD). Applications can be submitted year-round.

The adaptation grant amount is 72,000 euros per year, of which ETAG covers 50%. The grant period is 24 months and includes the researcher’s salary, research expenses, and general expenses for the host institution.
