The European Collaborative Cloud for Cultural Heritage (ECCCH) is a platform under construction that will bring together the tools and services needed for the work of cultural heritage institutions (CHIs). ECHOES, the project that is coordinating the creation of the platform, has published (a) stakeholder survey, (b) cascade funding call for cultural heritage institutions.
The survey which will remain open until the end of April is part of consultation with cultural heritage stakeholders including professionals, researchers, computer scientists/developers, umbrella organisations and institutions with a vested interest in the development and application of the Cultural Heritage Cloud. The results will be used to guide the work in ECHOES to develop the Cloud infrastructure, tools and services as well as for training and community building.
The cascade call, deadline 15 May 2025, encourages stakeholders in the Cultural Heritage Community to contribute datasets for use in the Cultural Heritage Cloud. Proposals should define the dataset’s intended user community, its purpose (e.g., research, education, virtual exhibitions), expected outcomes, and broader benefits. Additionally, proposers are asked to provide a scenario of how the project would like to make use of the Cultural Heritage Cloud. This should include a list of the possible steps needed to analyse and process the Cultural Heritage dataset. Finally, a detailed dataset description is required, covering content, technical specifications, ethical considerations, availability, and licensing.
For this call, a maximum of twelve projects will each receive up to €60,000 each. Eligible coordinators include any CHI located in a Horizon Europe country, either independently or as the lead partner of a consortium. We particularly encourage submissions from smaller, medium-sized and/or lesser resourced CHIs as well as interdisciplinary consortia. Proposals must be submitted by 23:59 CEST on 15 May 2025. The submission platform will be available starting from April 2025.
