Estonian Research Council offers researchers short term study visits to ERC grant holders

Researchers who are interested in applying for ERC grants can apply for support for short term study visits to current ERC grant holders. Estonian Research Council reimburses the costs of a study visit lasting up to two months. The aim of the visit is to learn from the grant holders how to write successful grant proposals and how to manage the ERC grant.

The researcher who is planning a study visit should already have a vision of one’s own grant proposal which should be submitted in the following two years. Learning from the experience of a current ERC grant holder should help him/her to finalise the proposal.

The grant application for the study visit must include a realistic timetable for the study visit and the expected results, which should contribute to the application for the ERC grant. The costs of the visit will be reimbursed to the applicant’s research institution based on actual expenses after the visit. The cost of one study visit is up to 7000 euros. In assessing the budget for a study visit, ETAG will proceed on the basis of its justification and consistency with the duration and destination of the study visit.

Applications for study visits can be submitted in Estonian Research Information System (ETIS). To open the application form, please send an email to Mobilitas Pluss consultant Margus Harak (margus.harak@etag.ee). To find the current grant holder to visit you can ask help from the R&D department of your research institution or from the Estonian Research Council.

The call for applications will be open in ETIS from 26 April until 17:00, 17 May 2021.

The decision of funding or not funding the study visit applications will be made in the end of May 2021.

In case of a positive funding decision, the applicant has nine months to go to the study visit. Therefore, please assess carefully, if the intended visit can be made within this time frame. If not, please apply for the next calls instead – in autumn 2021 or spring 2022.

The short term study visits to ERC grant holders are funded by Mobilitas Pluss programme from the budget of the European Development Fund and the Estonian state.
