Deep Tech: Europe’s new wave of innovation?

Join the Forum “Deep Tech: Europe’s new wave of innovation?” organised by Science|Business, University of Tartu, TalTech – Tallinn University of Technology, ETAG – Estonian Research Council and EASi ja KredExi ühendasutus on the 24th of April in Brussels (or online).

The forum will feature a diverse range of high-level expert speakers from various sectors and institution, including Maive Rute, Sigrid Rajalo, Krzysztof Czaplicki, Keith Sequeira, Ilaria Tagliavini, Otomar Slama, Heidi Kakko, Arnaud Castaignet, Ilona Gulchak, Vaido Mikheim, Daniel M. Vasconcelos, Sonja Vos-Poppelaars and Mart Maasik.

Following the forum, there will be a networking reception where to exchange ideas, and establish valuable connections with fellow participants, speakers, and organizers.

The European Union’s New European Innovation Agenda aims to support green and digital transitions, enhance conditions for European innovators, and strengthen innovation ecosystems across the continent.

Deep tech is central to this agenda, but Europe needs to foster a deep tech ecosystem that supports sustainable, competitive companies, including in Central and Eastern Europe.

As the EU prepares for its next institutional cycle, policymakers, researchers, industry, and finance experts need to discuss key questions:

• What conditions and mechanisms are needed to support the next generation of deep tech innovators and companies?
• How can deep tech enhance synergies between Europe’s industrial and research & innovation (R&I) strategies?
• What lessons can be learned from past R&I efforts to support deep tech?
• What role should universities and research organizations play in developing deep tech talent and business models?
