Estonian Research Council confirmed today the financing results of projects under the Norwegian-Estonian Research Cooperation Programme. According to the Norwegian-Estonian Research Cooperation Programme Committee recommendations thirteen projects will be financed. The budget available for the projects is 2.9 million €.
170 applications were submitted to the call with the requested amount of 48.2 million €. The quality of the submitted applications was very high. Therefore it is possible to finance only the applications which scoredf 14 or more points out of 15. Among the financed projects there are six projects from the area of Culture and Society, three projects from the area of Environment and Biosciences, two projects from the area of Physical Sciences and Engineering and two projects from the area of Health. The overall objective of the Norwegian-Estonian Research Cooperation Programme is to enhance research-based knowledge development in Estonia through research cooperation between Norway and Estonia. A memorandum of understanding on the implementation of the Norwegian financial mechanism 2009‐2014 was signed between the Republic of Estonia and the Kingdom of Norway in June 2011. The aim of the financial mechanism is to contribute to the reduction of economic and social disparities in Europe and to strengthen the relationship between Norway and the beneficiary states.
