Aim of the launching and matchmaking event is to give an overview of the new period of the EEA/Norway Grants, introduce the first call to be announced in 2018 in Estonia and share the good experiences gained from the Norwegian-Estonian Research Cooperation Programme.
After lunch, a matchmaking part will be organized for researchers to get acquainted with the researchers from the other Baltic States and Donor States and explore the possibilities for developing a joint proposal to be submitted in this call.

Background information
The overall objective of the Baltic Research Programme is to enhance research-based knowledge development in Baltic States through research cooperation with Norway and/or Iceland and/or Liechtenstein. Programme is funded by the EEA Financial Mechanisms for 2014-2021. An important objective of the Programme is to involve PhD students and postdocs in the projects, to develop internationally refereed joint publications in a joint Baltic-Donor States’ capacity and to establish a long-term and sustainable consortium which would have positive impact on regional welfare and economic development.
In 2018 call, the priority is given to applications addressing the following challenges in the Baltic region:
- Public health; translational medicine; health technologies
- Migration; social inclusion
- Regional cyber security; public security
- Environmentally friendly solutions
- Regional economic development; employment; labour market regulations and social policy
- More effective use of resources
In this call, the applications can be submitted by the Estonian Project Promoters in ETIS until 31 January 2019. Next call will be organized by Latvia (2019) and the last one by Lithuania (2019/2020).
