ETAG supports Ukrainian researchers’ participation in Estonian research groups and short-term study visits to Estonian universities

The Estonian research council (ETAG) has prepared two support measures for the Ukrainian researchers who have fled to Estonia. The first one allows the researchers to get acquainted with the research conducted in Estonian universities and to improve their professional skills. The second, separate measure allows the universities to hire an Ukrainian researcher to their ongoing project team

With ETAG’s funding, the universities can hire an Ukrainian refugee researcher to the team that is working on an ongoing starting, team or developmental grant project. The researcher must start their work in the team in 2022 and ETAG covers the costs for up to 6 months. More information can be found here.

Additionally, ETAG funds the Ukrainian researchers’ short-time study visits to Estonian universities (up to 3 months). The purpose of these study visits is to introduce the research that is being carried out in Estonian universities and to offer Ukrainian researchers an opportunity to improve their professional skills. The support measure also aims to foster the cooperation between Ukrainian and Estonian researchers in general. More information is available here.

The support programme for study visits begins in May and lasts until the end of 2022. All Estonian universities are eligible for the funding, ETAG will cover the personnel costs (including taxes) for up to 3 months. A total of 50 trainees can be supported through this measure, researchers positions will be distributed proportionally between the universities. The funds can be used retroactively back to 24 February 2022
