For Applicant

Purpose

The purpose of the support measure is to provide applicants from the Widening countries an opportunity to have a free-of-charge pre-check of the proposal carried out by the experts. Expert will give recommendations on how to improve the quality of the proposal and increase the chances of receiving the funding.

Conditions

  • Support measure is aimed for Horizon Europe Pillar II, III (EIC Pathfinder), Widening and ERA pre- and full proposals (full list below).
  • Only coordinator and/or work package leader can register and submit the proposal.
  • The proposal needs to be as close to completion as possible.
  • The proposal needs to be in English.
  • The request to find an expert must be submitted no later than six weeks before the call deadline. In general, the Horizon Europe proposal for which an expert pre-check is requested must be sent to the expert immediately after the expert has signed the contract and is assigned as the expert of the proposal pre-screening in the portal. As an exception, it is also possible to send it to the expert later, in which case please contact ETAG’s contact person (maarja.soonberg-kaine@etag.ee). Six weeks is the minimum time to find an expert, conclude the contract and carry out the pre-check, therefore we encourage you to submit a request for an expert search early.
  • Eligible are legal entities and institutions registered in Estonia (e.g. universities, universities of applied sciences, companies, local governments, NGOs) that have an Estonian bank account.

Missions

Pre-screening service

Applicant should register in the free-of-charge wideraexperts.eu portal and enter short description of the draft proposal and relevant keywords. The keywords included in the proposal are crucial for the selection of the most suitable expert by the NCP. If the applicant wants to submit the draft proposal later, then it should be noted in the comments when the draft proposal will be available. NCP signs a contract with an expert who has agreed to perform the pre-screening. The contract includes, inter alia, confidentiality clauses.

The expert must contact the applicant and agree the details of how the pre-check service will be provided. The applicant and the expert should meet online at least once with the NCP included. After delivering the service, the expert uploads the service report and the recommendation of the proposal. The NCP must approve or reject both. Applicant can download the recommendation provided by the expert. It’s also possible to rate the expert based on the interaction with the expert and the delivered service and fill in the questionnaire.

User Guide for the wideraexperts.eu portal is available here.
