Workshop From Research to Impact
6. January 2027, 10:00 - 17:30
What future could your research help create, and what would it take to start acting towards it?
Research begins with curiosity. Yet when we look beyond the research itself, that curiosity can meet doubt, fear of failure or uncertainty about where to begin. You may be exploring the impact your work could create, or already see the possibilities but feel held back from acting.
This workshop gives you space to explore those possibilities through experience, reflection and practice together with others.
The purpose
IMAGYM trains proactive imagination: imagining a future impact you want to create, taking ownership of it and making choices and taking action from that future.
Guided by Yoad Mick, Founder & Imagination Coach at IMAGYM, you will explore your research as a means to create that impact. Through this process, you will begin training your ERL, Entrepreneurial Resilience Level: your capacity to move through uncertainty, learn and keep acting towards your chosen direction.
The experience
Knowledge informs, experience transforms.
This is a hands-on workshop with experiential exercises, individual reflection, paired exchanges and small-group practice.
- Morning: Build a foundation of trust and psychological safety, explore individual imagination and experience the shift from reactive to proactive imagination through choice and intention.
- Afternoon: Move from individual to collective imagination, practice imagining together and connect the experience to research, science communication and knowledge-transfer work.
This tailored one-day introduction draws on IMAGYM’s three-day training and longer journeys. It is designed to spark curiosity, open possibilities and help you choose a practical next step.
What you can take from the day
- Greater clarity about the impact you want your work to contribute to.
- Awareness of assumptions that influence your choices.
- Practice leaning into curiosity and exploring uncertainty.
- Experience imagining with others and discovering opportunities for collaboration.
- A next step towards an impact you choose.
Your direction remains yours. It may involve further research, science communication, collaboration, innovation or commercialization.
Who is it for?
Researchers across disciplines and university-based science communication and knowledge-transfer professionals working directly with researchers. You do not need a business idea or a clear impact plan. Bring your curiosity and willingness to participate.
